Who will be not be interested in better and regular rewards? Of course, everyone (Including me too!). The only thing is how an organization can measure the performance, potential and capabilities of their employee at the time of appraisal. It is very important because of the employee who is giving their best to achieve what they want and if they don’t get up to that much, they can leave the organization as well.

There must be a well structured way to measure the performance of the employee. For example, sometimes I wonder how some of the biggest armies like India, China or America are being managed and what are the criteria they are having for the appraisal of their individuals. If you ever noticed, any Lieutenant General, Brigadier or Colonel of any army individual, their shoulders and chest are equipped with some specific and significant Insignia.

As you can see they are having different badges on the chest for the achievement they have got so far. Those badges are considered to be validated indicator of their accomplishment, skill, quality or interest that can be earned in various challenging environments they have faced during their entire career. Based on those badges that they have earned, army management promotes themselves to highest post. Just like that process nowadays traditional companies are moving or I would rather say they have already adopted a new way of employee appraisal and that is GAMIFICATION.

What is Gamification ?

It is the concept of applying gaming mechanism and game design techniques to non gaming organizations for engaging, inspiring and motivating people to achieve their goals. So do you think employees can be motivated more towards to achieve their goal if company apply gaming techniques? Well, let me explain you some of the my experience. Though I am not too much addicted of mobile games, few months before I had seen my colleague was playing one game subway surfers on his mobile. The game was quite impressive to me on the first sight. So I tried to use my hands in that game. To be honest, it has been a habit of playing that game once I have started to play it and never left down my iPhone for a minute.

The reason behind that was, that game making me excited at every attempt by new badges, more power ups and specially competition of being ahead with other Facebook friends. Every time when I beat the next level or get a new high score, I feel rewarded for accomplishing something or when I beat my best friend with his score, I felt I won the world, despite the fact that I am not going to receive a single coin of money by wasting time into that game. Undoubtedly that game provided me bite-sized moments of fun that are easy to fit into my busy business life. At the end, the makers of that game solved their purpose by engaging more and more users like me and showing different ads.

Let me get back to the original topic. By playing a mobile game like subway surfers, It was really a positive feeling that I crave, and it kept me wanting to play more. I thought why shouldn’t I apply the same gaming mechanism to my sales people to engage them more and more towards better results in sales. Finally, we have implemented Odoo Gamification in our internal ERP system. Just like badges in games, here in ERP, with gamification module, I have created challenges and goals for my Sales Team. Initially I have defined some of the easiest targets because of, if they face too much difficulty on the first attempt, they might run away from achieve it. Just like in subway surfer, on the first attempt if my avatar will run at super fast speed, I might unable to adjust it and left out from the game (You know what we face in real life, same being happen in the business). After few weeks of implementation of Gamification inside the business (Inside the Odoo as well!), we have got tremendous results. There was a healthy competition started to be happened among our sales managers. We were able to find the lacking areas and skills of our sales managers from the badges they have earned by accomplishment of different goals.

Let me give you example of different goals that I have configured in my Odoo system.

Convert the Leads into Opportunities for at least 50% leads they got in a month.

Lost Opportunities less than 5 per month

At least 15 Opportunities are won which are greater than 80% Probability for first quarter of 2016

Time to qualify a lead which is less than a week for a month

Expected revenue with more than 1000000 INR for first quarter of 2016

At least 10 sales of Amazon Odoo Integration App with 90% probability for Europe (in a month)

At least 5 sales of Ebay Odoo integration module with more than 60% probability for Europe (in a month)

So finally, I have gamified my business with Odoo, and you?

The badges, my sales people have earned from their targets and successfully accomplishing of their goals, helped them to stay focused and improve their numbers every day by treating sales like a game(They don’t know, but I made them used to of playing subway surfers). Gamification is increasingly being accepted, successfully applied and adopted in the business contexts as organizations realize the tremendous value it can bring to their business; for example, the fun and competitive nature and its built-in positive reinforcement pushes employees to perform to the best of their ability. Though I have been working in Odoo since last 7 years, I haven’t found any other app that is having more potential than this app (Off course for the Business Managers, who are more interested on the actual results rather than operations and efforts!).

Though this post has been a bit long, I hope you like it. Don’t forget to add some valuable feedbacks regarding Odoo Gamification. I will look forward for your comments, it is valuable for me.

Via Emipro

Category

Digital Transformation with Odoo ERP

Tags

Odoo

Gamification

HRM

CRM

Wed, 05 Oct 2022 10:26:25 +0000 admin 1490 at https://tigosoftware.com https://tigosoftware.com/gamification-most-remarkable-feature-odoo-motivate-and-reward-staff#comments Do More with Less? https://tigosoftware.com/do-more-less Do More with Less? admin Thu, 09/29/2022 - 18:06

If you have asked your employee to do more with less, you are not alone. As organizations laid off and furloughed workers, they also struggled to keep revenue streams open. That meant doing as much work as possible with as few resources as possible. Recent research shows that the effect on employees has been stacking up and has likely created an unsustainable situation.

The research, conducted by VitalSmarts, indicates that 59% of employees have experienced either a reduction or a restructure that changed the dynamic and size of their team. These changes have left people feeling overwhelmed and disengaged.

According to the study of 1,292 people, 82% feel that when their teams are restructured or reduced, the workload isn’t reduced; rather, people are just asked to do more with less. Specifically, the top 5 consequences people have experienced following team changes include:

Taking on more work in addition to their current responsibilities (20%)

Working longer hours (17%)

Losing energy and engagement in their work (16%)

Moving so quickly that they’ve lost sight of what their priorities are (14%)

Feeling their “real work” has drowned in a sea of other people’s urgent tasks (13%)

The data also indicate that even for those who have avoided a reduction or restructure, life at work still feels harder than ever. The most common challenges people are facing—regardless of changes to their team—range from a lack of focus and increased mental clutter to an unusual amount of anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed to not enough time to an overflowing e-mail in-box.

Doing More With Less: It is much more than cutting costs or cutting corners!

A Lack of Productivity Skills Compounding the Problem

Ultimately, researchers say the biggest concern is that people appear to lack the key productivity skills that will help them successfully navigate their workload when they’re asked to do more with less. Specifically, people struggle the most to:

Say “no” when they’ve hit their project threshold (52%)

Negotiate their workload as needed (34%)

Manage urgent requests so they don’t take over their to-do list (29%)

Confidently renegotiate commitments and expectations with their manager (29%)

Take time out of the week to review work projects and tasks and make plans (27%)

The combination of being asked to do more with less and a lack of productivity skills that could help manage an increased workload is creating a challenging situation.

Justin Hale, researcher at VitalSmarts, says, “COVID-19 has pushed the pace and intensity of work to unsustainable levels,” adding, “When you feel you have more to do than you can realistically accomplish, being stressed and overwhelmed is only natural. Individuals who don’t learn a few key strategies to manage their workload and renegotiate their commitments are headed for an epic burnout.”

Concerns that this might happen did arise early during the outbreak, and some organizations took appropriate action. The top five actions leaders have implemented in the wake of a restructure or reduction include:

Enabling team members to take time off as needed or requested to stay mentally clear and engaged (18%)

Encouraging or supporting people in saying no to work that is not critical (12%)

Cutting back on meetings (12%)

Finding creative ways to engage overwhelmed team members (10%)

Creating a clear vision for the most important/critical work (9%)

Hale says these changes to the way we are being asked to do work are helpful but ultimately not enough. It’s up to individuals to learn how to manage their workload.

“The key to doing more with less isn’t about working longer, faster, or harder,” says Hale. “It’s not about just doing more. It’s about doing more of the right things and finding ways to renegotiate or reprioritize less critical tasks. It’s about working smarter, not harder.”

5 Skills to Do More with Less Time and Fewer Resources

Hale provides a few key skills for approaching a workload that feels overwhelming and unmanageable.

1. Collect everything that owns your attention. Capture all commitments, tasks, ideas, and projects in an external place rather than keeping them in your head. Use a few “capture tools” you keep with you all the time, such as lists, apps, e-mail, etc.

2. Do a commitment audit. Capture all of your commitments on one page. Then, go down the list and decide which to-dos you will do, which you’ll decline, and which you’ll renegotiate. There’s no way you can do them all in the time given; be realistic about what you can and will do.

3. Identify next actions. Most people are overwhelmed by their lists because they are filled with vague things like “Budget” or “2020 Event.” These large projects repulse us rather than motivate us to act. Clarify your to-dos down to the very next action—the smallest behavior you’ll take to start moving toward closure. Sometimes, the key to breaking a habit of procrastination is making the action smaller until you want to do it.

4. Do more of the right things by reflecting in the right moments. Rather than diving into your messy in-box first thing, take 2 minutes to review your calendar and action lists. This reflection ensures you make the best decisions about how to use your time.

5. Review weekly. Keep a sacred, nonnegotiable meeting with yourself every week to re-sync, get current, and align your daily work and projects with your higher-level priorities.

Via HR Daily Advisor

Category

Methodology

Tags

HRM

Employee Growth

Lean

Thu, 29 Sep 2022 11:06:01 +0000 admin 1479 at https://tigosoftware.com https://tigosoftware.com/do-more-less#comments Top 10 Benefits of Employee Self-Service Portal (ESS) https://tigosoftware.com/top-10-benefits-employee-self-service-portal-ess Top 10 Benefits of Employee Self-Service Portal (ESS) admin Thu, 09/29/2022 - 17:51

What are ESS Portals?

HR managers face a lot of challenges in a constantly evolving job market. Adapting to innovation, dealing with a large workforce, and managing expenses and records are some examples. In instances like these, employee self-services exist to reduce the burden on companies and managers. Employee self-service software or employee self-service portal programs are software that allows employees to access their HR information. Employees are given profiles and login credentials. Employees and managers can access records and information and keep track of work or any information related to their work more effectively.

Employee Self-Service Portal Features:

Each employee is provided with a profile and login credentials. They are to enter their credentials such on an ESS portal login page. Once in, they can access their information such as payroll details, shift and timing details, bank details, documents, and other data.

In some cases, employees may have difficulties with the ESS portal. Employee self-service support, are dedicated units or organizations to deal with these issues and ensure the ESS portal runs smoothly.

Benefits of Employee Self-Service Portal:

Cost Cutting: ESS help HR managers and organizations cut a lot of costs. They look at it to move towards a paperless office.

Better Compliance: In many organizations, the ESS can be used as a tool for compliance. HR managers can keep track of whatever documents or details are required from the employees for compliance. In the case of a transfer, it becomes easier to move their details to the new office’s ESS portal’s database.

Less Stress on Managers: HR managers must do a lot of tasks while maintaining morale within an office. ESS portals reduce the stress on managers as all documents and details are readily available.

Analytics: ESS portals are a wealth of information for HR managers.
